Simon Gear, Paul Quinsee and Eric Wiebols have taken on the task of completing nine marathons, in nine provinces, in nine weeks. This initiative is part of the 9in9in9 venture to raise money for Starfish Greathearts Foundation. Their goal is raise R1-million for Starfish.

9in9in9 is aimed at creating awareness and support for the Starfish Greathearts Foundation, an international development charity that brings life, hope and opportunity to orphaned and vulnerable children in South Africa. The 9in9in9 venture will tie in specifically with the organisation’s 2012 Comrades fundraising campaign.

To date, the three runners have completed 3 runs:

28 Jan: Ottosdal (NorthWest). Eric ran 3:33, Paula 3:27 and Simon just over four hours

4 Feb: Sasol Marathon (Free State). Eric ran 3:33, Paula ran 3:23, Simon ran 3:38,

12 Feb: PnP (Gauteng): Eric ran 3:30, Paula ran 3:26, Simon 3:55.

The remaining races are as follows:

18 Feb – Battlefields – Newcastle, KZN

25 Feb – Buffs – East London, Eastern Cape

3 Mar – Marakele – Marakele National Park, Limpopo

10 Mar – Diamant – Kimberley – Northern Cape

17 Mar – Weskus – Langebaan, Western Cape

24 Mar – Witbank (24 Mar), Mpumalanga
