Comrades 1967: Epic Fail

In 1967, Manie Kuhn and Tommy Malone were involved in the closest finish Comrades Marathon history after a dramatic few metres.

Malone looked to be comfortably on his way to a win when he entered the stadium two minutes ahead of Kuhn and took the traditional mayoral message.

With less than 100m to go, Kuhn suddenly appeared and started sprinting for the line. Malone surged but cramped just metres from the line and fell to the ground. As he attempted to get up, Kuhn swooped passed to take the unlikely win by less than a metre.
