Ryan Sandes On Running An Ultra

Do you have any advice for my Comrades training?

– Hannelie, Glencoe

If you’re training for an ultra like Comrades, I’d recommend sticking to a training plan, and setting mini-goals in the lead-up to your big day.

A structured training programme helps you to maintain focus, without feeling overwhelmed; and mini-goals keep you motivated. Y

our body knows best, so listen to it: if you feel fatigued, then take an extra rest day, or run an easy session.

The bottom line: train hard – rest harder.
